You may want to skip the diet soda

Recently, Fox News reported on a panel that rated diet soft drinks on taste, and found that these beverages come up short.

According to the panel, the diet sodas that taste most like the original ones are those that contain some sugar, rather than just sugar-substitutes. However, most of the sodas made with stevia, a zero-calorie sweetener made from a plant, said that the drinks tasted too fake.

These findings suggest that people may want to drink water instead of diet soda when they are looking for a no-calorie option. A study conducted by researchers from the University of Oregon found that people may make healthier food choices when water is served at a meal instead of soda. While soda made study participants want to eat salty, calorie-laden foods, water had them reaching for the vegetables.
