Sleep is the key to a healthy brain

Do you suffer from insomnia? If so, you should take an herbal insomnia supplement such as Restalex-PM from Herbal Groups before you find yourself experiencing the symptoms of dementia. According to two studies recently presented at the 2012 Alzheimer's Association International Conference in Canada, there may be a relationship between the quality and quantity of sleep and risk of cognitive decline.

Researchers from Brigham and Women's Hospital found that study participants who slept for seven hours a night had higher average cognition than those who slept for only five hours or up to nine hours. This suggests that you need to get just the right amount of sleep each night to preserve mental function.

"The good news is that tools already exist to monitor sleep duration and quality and to intervene to help return sleep patterns to normal. If we do this, there is the possibility that we may also help people preserve their cognitive health, but that needs to be tested," said William Thies, Ph.D., Alzheimer's Association chief medical and scientific officer.

A separate study found that participants who were awake for most of the night were more likely to score poorly on cognitive function tests than well-rested individuals. Preserving cognitive function is an important part of healthy aging, so you should get a healthy amount of sleep and take an herbal anti-aging supplement to keep your mind and body fit into your golden years.
