There are many things you can do to help improve the health of your prostate. You can eat right, exercise and take a natural prostate pill. Of course, most men know that another important part of prostate health is getting screened for cancer, since early detection is one of the keys to successful treatment. Recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a new method of screening for prostate cancer that may provide more accurate readings.

This is important, considering that false-positive results happen with prostate cancer screenings and may lead to a man going through unnecessary and painful procedures. The new test is called the Prostate Health Index (phi), and combines the traditional PSA and a novel form of the precursor to PSA, called 2 pro PSA.

"The FDA approval of phi – based on the discovery of -2 pro PSA – may have reopened the door on effective screening and offers hope to patients who may need treatment for a disease they otherwise wouldn't know they had," said Kevin Slawin, M.D., founder of the Vanguard Urologic Institute.

A new, more accurate screening method may encourage more men to get themselves tested for prostate cancer, which kills nearly 30,000 American men each year, according to the National Cancer Institute.

Men who are concerned about their prostate health should eat right, exercise and take a natural prostate pill. However, one thing you may not want to do if you want a healthy prostate is drink a great deal of tea. According to scientists from the University of Glasgow, men who drink seven or more cups of tea a day may have as much as a 50 percent increased risk of developing prostate cancer over those who do not consume the beverage.

The Daily Mail reported on the study, which tracked the health of more than 6,000 men over the course of 40 years. The researchers determined that men who drank the most tea were more likely to develop prostate cancer than those who drank the least, though they are unsure of why.

"Most previous research has shown either no relationship with prostate cancer for black tea, or some preventive effect of green tea. We don’t know whether tea itself is a risk factor or if tea-drinkers are generally healthier and live to an older age, when prostate cancer is more common anyway," said researcher Kashif Shafique, M.D., quoted by the news source.

According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, prostate cancer is the most common cause of cancer death in older men. Further research will shed light on the effects of tea on this disease but for now, if you're concerned about your prostate, you should eat right, exercise and take a natural prostate pill.

Father's Day is almost here, and one great way to show day that you care is to encourage him to take a natural prostate pill to boost his health. In honor of this day celebrating dads, it's a good time to examine some of the simple ways that a man can increase his prostate health.

"Sometimes all it takes is a little reminder from the wife and kids to get men to the doctor each year and to commit to their annual PSA test," said surgeon David Samadi.

The doctor recommended that men who are concerned about their prostate should maintain a healthy diet. This should include foods such as tomatoes, fish, broccoli, watermelon, cabbage and green tea, since eating right helps the body ward off disease.

Also, while a healthy diet is important, it's not enough. Men should also be participating in a regular exercise routine to help reduce stress and improve their overall wellbeing.

Finally, herbal prostate supplements can make a great Father's Day gift, so look into getting a quality product such as Prostalex Plus from Herbal Groups.

Are you a man who's trying to boost the health of your prostate? If so, there are many things you can do, taking an herbal prostate supplement and talking to your doctor about whether you should be screened for cancer. Recently, USA Weekend spoke to H. Ballentine Carter, professor of urology and oncology at Johns Hopkins, who explained some things that you should know about prostate health.

First, he said you should educate yourself on how the prostate works and the common problems associated with it, like enlargement. Next, Carter stated that exercise and doctor visits are not enough to keep your prostate healthy, you also need to be eating a balanced diet. Also, you should be protecting the area around the prostate.

"There's 'high-priced real estate' around the prostate, including the bladder, rectum and nerves. These areas of the body can spread infection easily. Protect those areas by adopting healthy-living choices," said Carter, quoted by the news source.

The Prostate Health Guide states that over 50 percent of men in their 60s and and as many as 90 percent of those in their 70s or older have symptoms of an enlarged prostate. There are many natural options that may help with this problem, such as Herbal Group's Prostalex Plus.

There have been so many reports lately regarding prostate cancer screening that it can be difficult to know what you should do. While you know that maintaining a healthy weight, eating balanced diet and taking an herbal prostate supplement may help you stay fit, you should still always be concerned about your risk of prostate cancer. Recently, urologist Premal Desai gave his opinion on whether men of 75 should be screened.

The United States Preventive Service Task Force recently stated that there may be more downsides than positives to giving men over the age of 75 a PSA test. Desai said that he believes patients should still be given the option of a prostate test, regardless of their age.

"I do agree that most men age 75 or older will not die of newly diagnosed prostate cancer, but there are a significant number of men who are quite healthy with significant longevity in their family history who may be harboring potentially aggressive disease. These men should be able to make a choice of whether or not they wish to be screened," said Desai.

The doctor said that physicians should have informed discussion with their older patients about whether to get a PSA screening, and then they can make the decision together.

Sometimes, it's important for you to take preventative measures to boost your health rather than just dealing with problems when they arise. For example, taking an herbal prostate supplement before developing a condition like an enlarged prostate, since these pills may boost prostate health. Similarly, researchers recently determined that young men should be getting regular screenings for prostate cancer, so the disease can be caught as soon as possible.

Prostate cancer screening is something that many healthcare officials are torn over. While some believe men of all ages should be tested regularly, others believe it should just be older men. According to study authors, young men should be screened as well, they should just be chosen carefully.

"Screening should be encouraged for healthy younger men and men with risk factors (e.g., black ancestry, positive family history) and discontinued for elderly men with multiple comorbidities and limited life expectancy," concluded study authors.

If you're a man who is worried about the health of your prostate, talk to your doctor about whether you should get screened for cancer. Also, you may want to consider an herbal prostate supplement to potentially help prevent or improve age-related prostate problems.

Often, researchers will discover that a natural remedy can have a powerful effect on a medical condition. This is why many men take an herbal prostate pill to boost their health, since research has shown that natural ingredients may benefit the prostate. For example, scientists from the University of Chicago recently discovered that a natural remedy derived from honeybee hives may stop the growth of prostate cancer cells and tumors in mice.

Caffeic acid phenethyl ester, or CAPE, is a compound that comes from the resin used by bees to patch up holes in the hives.

"If you feed CAPE to mice daily, their tumors will stop growing. After several weeks, if you stop the treatment, the tumors will begin to grow again at their original pace," said researcher Richard Jones, Ph.D. "So it doesn't kill the cancer, but it basically will indefinitely stop prostate cancer proliferation."

This finding is yet another example of how natural remedies can have positive influences on the body. Herbal Groups is the nation’s leading OTC prostate health supplement called "Prostalex Plus," which, taken in conjunction with "Herbal Vitality," their natural male enhancement supplement may boost a man's health and his confidence in the bedroom

A recent study by researchers at Long Island University (LIU) suggests oregano, a common herb seasoning found on pizza and other Italian dishes, could be beneficial in the treatment of prostate cancer.

Pizza, interestingly enough, has many ingredients that may provide sickness prevention abilities. The positive benefits of tomato products on prostate health have been attributed to the high concentration of lycopene, a potentially powerful antioxidant. However, the study shows that oregano may also play a key role in the fight against cancer.

"We know that oregano possesses anti-bacterial as well as anti-inflammatory properties, but its effects on cancer cells really elevate the spice to the level of a super-spice like turmeric," said Supriya Bavadekar, Ph.D., assistant professor of pharmacology at LIU.

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in men, and recent data projects that roughly one out of 36 men will die of disease. In this year alone, there will be roughly 241,000 new cases of prostate cancer and nearly 28,000 fatalities due to the disease.

The Mayo Clinic recommends exercise, meditation and various relaxation therapies as a way to ease the side effects of prostate cancer. Additionally a nutritious diet that includes a natural prostate pill may also be beneficial.

According to research from the University of Chicago Medical Center, many Americans do not follow guidelines set forth for prostate cancer screenings. The United States Preventive Services Task Force has recommended against cancer screenings for men aged 75 or older claiming that the risks outweigh the benefits, yet nearly half of those in that age group continue to receive testing.

"For the large majority of men in this age group, early detection can lead to treatment of a disease that will probably never cause a problem. A substantial proportion of men over 75 with an elevated PSA will die from something else before a prostate cancer interferes with the quality or duration of their life," said Scott Eggener, M.D., author of the study.

The study suggests that practices should be supervised and recommends patients and physicians to be vocal about their health concerns.

The Mayo Clinic suggests digital rectal exam (DRE) and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) should be the primary test for prostate cancer screening. However, the clinic also recommends exercise, meditation and relaxation therapies as a way to combat the side effects of the disease. A healthy and nutritious diet that includes a natural prostate pill may also be beneficial.

Prostate cancer is the most common cause of death from cancer in men over age 75, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information. Men who undergo treatment for this condition may find they have a need for an herbal male enhancement supplement to help them regain their confidence in the bedroom, since the disease can cause problems with sexual function.

Recently, Family Practice News reported on a study which found that men are avoiding sexual therapy following prostate cancer surgery.

"Men are struggling [on average] for about [two] years before they actually pursue treatment," said Christian J. Nelson, Ph.D., at the annual conference of the American Psychosocial Oncology Society, quoted by the news source.

This is unfortunate, considering that doctors have the best resources to help these men regain their sexual function. Nelson added that this is an important quality of life issue, and he and his colleagues are planning a study to determine what barriers are keeping these men from seeking treatment.

Men who are concerned about the health of their prostate should consider taking an herbal prostate supplement. While these natural pills don't prevent cancer, they may boost overall health and improve a man's general well-being.
