Hungry after dinner? Grab some raisins

Many people want to lose weight, and if you're one of them, you should be changing your eating habits, exercising and taking an herbal diet supplement. Some individuals may believe that when you're trying to shed pounds, you can't have snacks, but that's not true, you simply need to consume healthy ones. For example, research presented at the American Diabetes Association’s 72nd Annual Scientific Session suggests eating raisins three times a day may significantly lower postprandial (post-meal) glucose levels, compared to other snacks.
"Raisins have a relatively low glycemic index and contain fiber and antioxidants, all factors which contribute to blood sugar control," said James Painter, Ph.D., R.D., and nutrition research advisor for the California Raisin Marketing Board.
According to the scientists, compared to those who ate the control snacks, people who ate raisins had a 16 percent reduction in blood-glucose levels. Decreasing blood sugar can help prevent long-term damage to the heart and circulatory system.
These findings suggest that individuals, especially diabetics, may want to consider consuming raisins as an after-meal snack.
