There may be a whole new generation in need of an herbal diet supplement. If you have an overweight child, new research suggests that you'll want to help them lose weight before body fat negatively affects their heart, which could happen sooner than you think. According to researchers from the University of Pristina in Kosovo, obese adolescents, even those who appear to be healthy, may already have damaged their cardiovascular health.
These findings add to the growing concern over the obesity epidemic in America. According to the scientists, previous research has shown that obese adults have functional changes to their heart. The results of this study showed that even if they exhibited no symptoms of heart disease, obese adolescents were more likely to have damaged hearts with thicker walls and and impaired systolic and diastolic function than normal weight kids.
The researchers called for parents and educators to do more to educate children on the importance of a healthy diet and exercise regimen. The scientists said that further research is needed to determine if losing weight could reverse heart damage in obese adolescents.
