The idea that most people are destined to gain a substantial amount of weight during the holidays simply isn't true, even though some can find themselves one or two pounds heavier after January 1. While this may not seem like a lot, this extra girth may be difficult to shed, and individuals may find themselves needing an herbal diet supplement.
Recently, experts from the University of Missouri offered some suggestions for staying slim without sacrificing treats this holiday season.
"People can continue their healthy habits by being aware of their food choices at the [holiday] table and identifying time commitments that may interrupt their regular exercise schedules," said dietitian Donna Mehrle.
Mehrle recommended choosing different ways to socialize with your relatives, other than around the dinner table. For example, going outside for a walk after dinner or playing a touch football game can be a good way to stay active and have fun with the whole family. Furthermore, the expert and her colleagues suggested that parents and teachers work together to make sure holiday activities at schools do not just revolve around food.
All this doesn't mean that people have to give up their favorite holiday fare, the dietitian added. Individuals just need to be sure to consume reasonable portions rather than giant amounts.
