Taking an herbal prostate supplement can help boost health in that area of the body, which is something every man should be concerned with. Prostate cancer treatments can come with a variety of unpleasant side effects, including problems functioning in the bedroom.
There may be hope on the horizon for people with this disease, however, as researchers believe they may be close to developing a vaccine to fight the illness. Scientists from the Mayo Clinic have successfully reduced prostate tumors in mice using a vaccine that has no major side effects, unlike chemotherapy and other traditional cancer treatments.
"We are hopeful that [this vaccine] will overcome some of the major hurdles which we have seen with immunotherapy cancer research," says Richard Vile, Ph.D., a Mayo Clinic immunologist.
In the past, researchers have been unable to create a successful vaccine against cancer because they have been unable to isolate the antigens of tumors. This problem leads to tumors simply re-locating to other parts of the body rather than being destroyed.
The Mayo Clinic scientists who worked on this project believe they have moved past the antigen problem and are hopeful that this will open the door to more cancer-fighting vaccines.
