Eating cabbage and other vegetables may lower risk of colon cancer

Colon cancer is something that no one wants to experience, and it can potentially be avoided by getting regular check ups. Another way to help prevent this disease may involve taking a natural colon health supplement. Along with these steps, eating right can potentially increase health in this part of the body.
Research published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association found that individuals who consume brassica vegetables, such as cabbage and broccoli, have a lower risk of colorectal cancer (CRC). Though these study results are positive, scientists are not ready to make dietary suggestions yet.
"The replication of these findings in large prospective studies may help determine whether a higher intake of vegetables is a means for reducing the risk of distal CRC," said researcher Lin Fritschi, PhD.
For now, eating these vegetables is a safe and low-cost way to potentially increase colon health. Even if further research finds that these foods don't have a large impact on CRC, the worst that can happen is a few extra servings of healthy veggies.
